Problem with position of tooltips on floated elements

I have a design where I am floating like six items one after another, each floated left, to give me columns. I have applied the tiptip tooltip plug-in to each element on hover, and the tooltip is appearing as it should, but not WHERE it should. I am also getting different behaviors in both Safari 4 and FF 3.6. Attached are screenshots of the behaviors in each browser. I have not modified the css or js code aside from making the tooltip appear above the trigger element. Are there issues with this tool appearing when called from floated elements?

Thanks for the time!

Thanks for finding that bug :)

Any chance you would be willing to send me your HTML & CSS files so i can debug it exactly how you have it?

Hi there, Drew. I apologize that it's taken me this long to get back to you. I took some time just now to set up a small demo site on my MobileMe account where you can see what I'm trying to do, and how I'm going about it. Hopefully you can see the issues I'm experiencing, and if you might have some suggestion as to how I could make it work properly, I would greatly appreciate it.

    Thank you very kindly.

The problem is the use of margins to position the tooltip. For inspiration, please take a look at jquery.cluetip, which uses a combination of relative and (mostly) absolute positioning.
