Possible for "read only" tagging functionality?

I have two scenarios in my web application. One page that holds tags for a document that a person can actively search for and create new tags. The other is simply viewing the tags attached to the document.

My question is, can i use autosuggest to simply have "readonly" tags? So the list of tags gets stylized like normal, only the person can not search or interact with the tagging field?

Quick update. If you set the input field to readonly, you can not enter new tags but you can still delete the existing tags, albeit if there is no form to submit then its just a UX thing. But I think this functionality will suffice. Lets see if a new feature could be to toggle the 'x' and delete functionality from the tags.
