I have searched this entire forum. Drew has multiple times suggested to use the preFill, yet there is no clear documentation anywhere on how exactly to do that. Can anyone give one clear example?

Thanks in advance,

Jay

    +1, very actual question. As for me, I cannot make preFill work.

    This worked for me

    var data = {
      items: [
      {value: "21", name: "Mick Jagger", tag: "Musician"},
      {value: "43", name: "Johnny Storm", tag: "Musician"},
      {value: "46", name: "Richard Hatch", tag: "Survivor"},
      {value: "54", name: "Kelly Slater", tag: "Athlete"},
      {value: "55", name: "Rudy Hamilton", tag: "Unknown"},
      {value: "79", name: "Michael Jordan", tag: "Athlete"}
    ]};

    $(function(){

    $("#field1").autoSuggest(data.items, {
        selectedItemProp: "name",
        searchObjProps: "name",
        asHtmlID: "values",
        preFill: [ { value: "21", name: "Mick Jagger" } ],
        neverSubmit: true
    });

    Ya, profile accepts an array of objects so just wrap in square brackets
